“Being a stage manager of color, I want the next generation to know that they can do this. Especially when they come from a small town like I did. When I was younger, I had no idea that the life I live now was possible. As I’ve gotten older and been able to do things I want to do, I want more people to experience that. That’s why I want younger stage managers — even people who aren’t stage managers — to know that whatever you want to do, you can find a way to do it. Never stop dreaming, find joy in your journey and always spread joy daily.” - Cody Renard Richard for Dramatics Magazine

“Black Joy is freedom of expression, peace of mind, and laughter. It is big and loud, but also gentle and quiet. It is living my best life, even in situations that weren’t built for me to succeed. It is uplifting. It is motivating. It’s me.” - Cody Renard Richard for TodayTix
